Council for World Mission |
The London Missionary Society (LMS) which was founded in 1795, the Commonwealth (Colonial) Missionary Society founded in 1838 and the English Presbyterian Board of Missions founded in 1847 combined in 1977 and gave birth to the Council for World Mission. A new model of mission emerged through the Council for World Mission. The churches voted for a democratic structure in which everyone could contribute and receive from each other as equals rather than the belief that all assets and missionaries could only come from Europe as was the case before. |

The Africa Region is comprised of five member churches that extend over Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean. These churches are spread across 8 countries, namely Botswana, Namibia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.
